When Scotiabank bankers Tamara Simpson and Brandon King met at the bank, where they were both employed, their single focus was to do well in their jobs. However, Cupid’s arrow had other plans for them as six years lateron March 10, 2019, the two were joined in holy matrimony at Laughing Waters, St Ann. Vows banks on this love.

The proposal, as told by Brandon

It was her birthday weekend, August 2018, when I popped the question. I took her to Grand Palladium Lady Hamilton Resort & Spa where I planned a surprise moonlit dinner on the beach the day after her birthday. Our server brought dessert with the words ‘I Love You’ inscribed on each plate. I then told Tamara I had one more gift for her before getting down on one knee and telling her how much I loved and appreciated her. Then I asked her to marry me. She was shocked and speechless for about five minutes before hugging me profusely… and saying yes!

Here comes the bride

The exchange of vows took place at Laughing Waters Villa, St Ann, where friends and family lined the shore to witness the nuptials. Kara Anderson and her team from Petals and Promises used shades of blush, navy and marsala to decorate the area. The ceremony also featured a French door painted by the couple to enhance their spring-time wedding. The processional began as the bridesmaids, who wore marsala chiffon dresses from David’s Bridal, were escorted up the aisle to Christina Perri’s A Thousand Years by the gromsmen clad in navy blue pants and vests with white shirts.

With the strains of You Are The Reason by Calum Scott reverberating through the air, Tamara made her way up the aisle on the arm of her father Michael Simpson in a V-neckline and open-back Morilee fitted sheath gown with embroidered net over chantilly lace and beaded straps from Petals and Promises.

Trying his best to stave off tears, Brandon, in a navy blue tuxedo, held Tamara’s hand tightly as she joined him at the altar. The ceremony was officiated by Reverend Winston McKay.

The reception…

continued at Laughing Waters, where the blush, navy and marsala décor was repeated. The bridal party made their entrance to Justin Timberlake’s Can’t Stop The Feeling, followed by the newly-weds who appeared to Demarco’s No Wahala featuring Akon and Runtown. It was now over to the evening’s emcee Ryan Dixon, who welcomed guests. Then the couple took the floor for their first dance as husband and wife, to Daniel Caesar’s Best Part featuring HER.

Formalities continued with the unveiling and cutting of the four-tiered chocolate cake infused with strawberry and chocolate filling by Leanne Morrison from Leanne’s Sweet Tooth, and a hearty dinner courtesy of Caribbean Pantry.

Other highlights included the toast to the bride and groom, parents of the bride and groom, the tossing of the bouquet, and the garter removal.

A honeymoon is planned for a later date.
