It’s all true. Jamaica is being crowned as the centerpiece of the brand-new James Bond movie; and the details have just been released.

It was previously announced that the new 007 film would be shooting on our small island, but not many other details were given. However, today at the Ian Fleming Villa in Jamaica, Bond producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G Wilson, as well as new director Cary Fukunaga made it clear that the film opens with Bond relaxing in “his spiritual home”.

Much like the author and genius behind the franchise, James Bond will find himself off duty and relaxing in Jamaica. His bliss will be cut short when sudden trouble ensues and a friend urgently needs his help. The mission: rescue a kidnapped scientist.

The 25th Bond movie pays homage to Jamaica, the island where Ian Fleming wrote all his James Bond books and the set of previous 007 films, “Dr. No” and “Live and Let Die.”

Not known to many is that Jamaica is a fundamental location in the Bond enterprise. In the words of Fleming himself: “Would these books have been born if I had not been living in the gorgeous vacuum of a Jamaican holiday? I doubt it.”

This will be Daniel Craig’s final reprisal of the role as the man himself, James Bond and, newly recognized Academy Award Winner, Rami Malek’s introduction to the films as the primary antagonist.

Principal filming in Jamaica is expected to continue until late May, in the Corporate Area and Portland. Filming has already been done in Norway, with additional production scheduled for Italy and London. The film will be released on April 3, 2020.
