My go-to cologne is… I use many different scents, but I do like the old green-bottled Hugo Boss or Creed if I’m being or going somewhere fancy.

I was drawn to this cologne because… it (Hugo Boss) has a subtle sweet fragrance but also has this mature finish.

I have been using it for… about 20 years.

Describe the notes… It is unique in its combination of crisp green apples, aromatic herbal twists and smoky and earthy wild forest scents.

My father used… Polo by Ralph Lauren – his dresser was always full of colognes and he always said it was important for men to smell good and look sharp.

I shop for cologne… very randomly.

Do share a funny cologne story… The truth is I don’t follow up with the trends in latest colognes but as a businessman it is imperative. I smell good when engaging with clients and prospects. With that said I have many bottles of cologne at home, one in all cars, a few at work, one in my gym bag, a couple in my travel pouch, etc. Anywhere I go I must be able to refresh myself with a splash of cologne. Have to stay fresh!

Were I to equate a cologne to a financial instrument it would be… definitely a Sagicor Life Insurance product: it offers protection, security and peace of mind and, like any great fragrance, when you step out in that scent, you feel confident and secure that you smell good so you have nothing to worry about. Creed is that fragrance for me. When I wear it I am sure that I smell good.

My go-to cologne is… Kenneth Cole, but especially Kenneth Cole for Him.

I was drawn to this cologne because… of the light scent; it is attractive and doesn’t weigh on me. Also, because of the light citrus notes, which give a light refreshing feel. It brings out both humility and strength – like me, suave but not a pushover. More importantly, my wife loves it.

I have been using it for… five years now.

Describe the notes… Its top notes are cool mineral accord, sea salt and white citrus, with mild notes of jasmine and ginger, while the base notes are modern woods and white amber.

My father used… Diesel’s Fuel for Life.

I shop for cologne… In New York when I travel, three times a year and shop there, so I pick up a bottle or two. Macy’s is my go-to-place or online.

Do share a funny cologne story… I was in my garden one Saturday and I kept having a visitor — a bee kept following me. To my surprise, I had spritzed the fragrance a few moments before. Here I was thinking I was being attacked but I was just being sweet!

Were I to equate a cologne to a financial instrument it would be… Sagicor Bank’s new mortgage product — like a cologne, it attracts people. It’s fresh, new and it simply works.

My go-to cologne is… Issey Miyake

I was drawn to this cologne because… it’s just one of those timeless scents that never get old and will always be around. It’s a good scent for any time of day and any event. Not too overpowering but distinct enough to make a statement.

I have been using it…. from high school/university days, so quite a little while now and so far it’s been good to me.

Describe the notes… It has a nice crisp manly scent. Has a nice balance between light citrus and spice with some hints of muskiness, but not too overpowering.

My father used to wear…. Cool Water by Davidoff, another timeless scent. I guess that is where I get it from.

I shop for cologne… around once or twice a year. If I’m overseas I tend to just pick up a cologne. I like trying new scents but definitely always need a constant supply of Issey.

Do share a funny cologne story… Once upon a time, I went out and kept getting compliments on the cologne I was wearing. people kept asking me the name of the cologne. I kept making up excuses and saying, oh no, I can’t tell you because then everyone is going to start wearing it. The funny part is it was really some good old Dove soap. But I couldn’t let them know that in the moment!

Were I to equate a cologne to a financial instrument it would be… a stock. It’s an investment that everyone should have in their mix of assets and there is a stock option for everyone, similar to colognes — you have your timeless scents that are always safe, so you can say those are the blue-chip stocks and then you have the edgier and riskier scents that can be like junior market stocks and IPOs. But nevertheless a good variety of colognes can be like a good balanced stock portfolio.
