Billboard goes Black and White
Hawaiian reggae band The Green earns its fourth number one on this week’s Billboard Reggae Album Chart with Black and White, which was released March 22 by Easy Star Records.
The group’s previous chart-toppers were 2011’s Ways and Means, 2013’s Hawaii 13 and 2017’s Marching Orders.
Easy Star Records has been prolific in recent years. The New York label also occupies the number five spot with Free Rein by Rebelution, which debuted at number one last year.
Also new on the chart is Buzz, an EP by Maryland-based quartet Bumpin Uglies. The six-track project was released by Ineffable Records and is the group’s fourth title, having peaked at number one in 2018 with The Beast From The East.
Last week’s chart-topper, Koffee’s EP Rapture, drops to number three while Queendom by Analea Brown falls to number four.
Akae Baka, a roots band from St Croix in the US Virgin Islands, enters at number six with Hail The King. The 10-song set was released March 23 by Higher Bound Productions, and is the group’s sixth title to chart.
Their 2016 album, Livicated, and 2017’s Jahsaydo peaked at number six.
Everyday Life, Everyday People by Slightly Stoopid, is number seven in its 35th week on the table.
Hawaiian reggae artiste Mr 83, whose real name is Curtis Helm, scores his first entry with Heartical which debuts at number eight. The 10-track set was released March 25 by 2 Pon Top.
Following the death of British singer Ranking Roger from lung cancer on March 26, his band The Beat rebounds into the top 10 with Public Confidential which is number nine. It peaked at number six a few weeks ago.
Sting & Shaggy’s 44/876 is number 10.
