After victory, Bad Boy Trump to change owners
BAD Boy Trump , a plucky and consistently improving four-year-old chestnut colt, bred and owned by Norris Phinn is set to change owners after registering his third career win from eight starts at Caymanas Park on Wednesday, March 27 2019.
Trained by Everal Francis, Bad Boy Trump competing among native-bred four-year-olds and upward (NW3) for the second time this season opened his four-year-old campaign with a tidy 1:20.3 going 1,300 in a field of 10 runners.
Phinn is resolved that it is time for the chestnut colt to be owned by someone else.
“I must admit that, I like him but it is time for him to go. He is improving which is true but you have to give somebody else a chance.
“No problem with him but just giving a next man a chance. Sad, but that is how it is” Phinn revealed. When asked if he is leaving racing? “No, I have more horses. I am just getting rid of that one for the time being.
Ridden by North American-based jockey Simon Husbands, Bad Boy Trump, the 4/5 favourite, blazed the trail from the off, tracked by the 8/1 chance Fly First Class, with champion jockey Anthony Thomas, to win by 4 1/2 lengths from the 2-1 shot Ricky Riccardo, under leading jockey Omar Walker, who ran on strongly from in deep stretch to take second place from Fly First Class.
For his opening victory this term, Bad Boy Trump pocketed the winner’s share of $354,000 to increase his short lifetime earnings to $1,846,500 gathered from nine career starts with three wins, three seconds and a third-place finish.
