#Champs2019: XLCR’s Nugent clocks record in Class 2 hurdles win, Freeman wins Class 1
KINGSTON, Jamaica — The sensational Ackera Nugent of Excelsior High clocked a new record in her way to victory in the girls’ Class two 100m hurdles, while Daszay Freeman of The Queen’s School won the Class One event on the final day of the 109th staging of the ISSA/GraceKennedy Boys’ and Girls’ Athletic Championships underway at the National Stadium.
Nugent the World Under-18 record holder was smooth and clean over the obstacles on her way to 12.91 in a negative 1.0 metres per second wind reading. Her time lowered the previous record of 12.95 set by Ray-donna Lee of Hydel last year.
St Jago’s Crystal Morrison chased home the winner in 13.20, with Salieci Myles (13.50) of Edwin Allen in third.
Meanwhile, Freeman came from off the pace in lane six to secure her second Champs gold medal winning in 13.63 in a negative 1.7 metres per second wind reading.
The two class champion from last year, in her final year, won ahead of Winsome Harris (13.66) of St Elizabeth Technical and Joda Campbell (13.67) of Hydel.
