#Champs2019: Foreman mines XLCR’s first gold
KINGSTON, Jamaica — The outstanding Shantae Foreman claimed Excelsior’s first gold medal of the 109th ISSA/GraceKennedy Boys’ and Girls’ Athletic Championships when she topped the Class two long jump final at the National Stadium.
Foreman registered a winning mark of 6.14 metres to secure nine points, moving the Mountain View Avenue school to joint third with Vere Technical on 19 points.
The ever-consistent Foreman is also favoured to land gold in the Class two high jump final scheduled for Saturday.
Meanwhile, Ackelia Smith of Edwin Allen was second in the long jump with a mark of 6.04m with Nia Robinson of Rusea’s High in third at 5.94m.
Edwin Allen, hunting a sixth-straight girls’ title, have now assumed the lead on 31 points, ahead of Rusea’s on 29 points.
