WAKEFIELD, Trelawny — Mt Alvernia High and Herbert Morrison Technical will put their respective three-game winning start on the line today when they meet in a crucial ISSA Western Conference Girls’ Open basketball game at Muschett High in Wakefield.

The game will be the first of a double-header as hosts Muschett High and newcomers York Castle High, both seeking their first win of the season, will follow.

The game between Montego Bay rivals Mt Alvernia High and Herbert Morrison Technical is to be the highlight of the day as both teams are seeking sole leadership after some impressive results so far.

Herbert Morrison are coming off a 42-11 win over Muschett High in Montego Bay on Tuesday, after William Knibb Memorial steamrolled York Castle High 55-8 for their second win.

Playing in front of a supportive home crowd, Herbert Morrison gave Muschett little chance to get into the game and led 12-0 after the first quarter and were up 22-2 at half-time.

Muschett High had their best quarter in the third, scoring six points, but still trailed by 28 points 36-8, as Kerry-Kay Stephenson scored 18 points to lead the hosts, while Tishara Morris scored six points, but grabbed 18 rebounds.

Moeka Brown scored six points for Muschett High and Shaday Shereves scored three points and had six rebounds.

In the first game, York Castle scored all of their eight points in the first-half as William Knibb were relentless, leading 12-4, 25-8 and 35-8 after the first three quarters.

Three players registered double-doubles for William Knibb — Samara Spence led the way with 20 points and 12 steals, Shuwani Thompson scored 12 points and had 10 rebounds and Ashanti Hall scored 12 points and had 12 rebounds.

Mavay Greaves scored six of York Castle’s eight points.
