KINGSTON, Jamaica — Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Selvin Haye was on Monday appointed Inspector General of the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF).

Haye’s appointment is said to form part of the JCF’s strategic transformation, which will see the Inspectorate of Constabulary (IOC) restructured to address matters dealing with professional standards and breaches of the Corruption Prevention Act.

The primary functions of the IOC are to conduct audits and inspections at all police formations and to ensure strict adherence to the standards and procedures of the organisation. The aim of the unit is to evaluate matters that affect the delivery of efficient and professional services, the JCF said.

Prior to this new assignment, DCP Haye was responsible for the Crime and Security Portfolo in the JCF. He had overall responsibility for the Criminal Investigation, Intelligence, Personal Security of Heads of Governments, the Diplomatic Corp and other VIPs.

DCP Haye is now responsible for overseeing the restructuring and reorganising of the IOC to become a central point of contact for matters relating to police corruption and complaints.
