KINGSTON, Jamaica — Cabinet Minister Fayval Williams was on Wednesday appointed to head the turbulent Ministry of Science, Energy and Technology which has been embroiled in controversy since last year following several instances of nepotism and administrative breaches at the State-owned oil refinery Petrojam.

Prime minister Andrew Holness also made changes to the administrative status of junior ministers Alando Terrelonge and Floyd Green, as well as three prominent permanent secretaries — Audrey Sewell, Sancia Templer Bennett and Carol Palmer.

On the crime scene, 52-year-old fitness instructor at Fit Farm Fitness, Christopher Brown was shot dead in front of the gym early Wednesday morning. A motive has not yet been established for his murder.

In sport, Olympian and National record holder Kemoy Campbell walked for the first time on Tuesday since he collapsed at the Millrose Games in New York last Saturday. The athlete, who had been sedated for more than a day, shared footage on Instagram of himself moving about.
