Kevin Decaux is new Technical Director of handball
Kevin Decaux was introduced as the new technical director of handball by the Jamaica Handball Federation (JHF) at a press conference at the Jamaica Olympic Association (JOA) head office on Thursday.
A former Moroccan national coach, Decaux is well known in the handball world for developing the sport in Guinea where he served as head coach of the national female team.
Committed to the development of what is a fairly new sport in Jamaica, the handball federation became a member of the JOA family last May and with the help of the association, has sought to equip its General Secretary Oery Warren with critical knowledge and skills for its effective functioning.
Having hosted its first summer camp in 2018 the JHF has been able to identify persons interested in being prepared to participate in the Olympic programme.
The introduction of a technical director for a three-year term is another injection into the programme courtesy of the JOA. While it is clear that this sport cannot meet the requirements for the 10 in 20 campaign, the JOA is investing for the future in the hope that, before long, it will see the development of players all across the island and possibly the emergence of a team ready for international competition.
