Nia’s got it
LUCEA, Hanover — Three records were broken on yesterday’s Girls’ elimination for the County of Cornwall Athletics Association (COCAA) Western Championships held at the Collin Miller Sports Complex in Lucea.
Two of the records came in the high jump where Mt Alvernia High’s Rochell Clayton copped the Class One mark while Rusea’s High’s Nia Robinson broke the Class Two mark, and her teammate Shamella Donaldson broke the record in the Class One discus throw.
Meanwhile, two-time defending champions Rusea’s High lead the points table after just nine finals that were completed yesterday, tallying 91 points, followed by St Elizabeth Technical High School (STETHS) on 68, Petersfield High on 49, Manning’s School with 47 and Mt Alvernia High on 36 filling out the top five.
The long jump finals were scheduled to be completed yesterday but the meet organisers took the decision to move them to Saturday’s combined finals at the St Elizabeth Technical Sports Complex in Santa Cruz.
