It was a drama-filled top-rated Open Allowance highlighter event at Caymanas Park yesterday.

Nuclear Flight, ridden by Dane Dawkins, won the five-furlong straight event but was disqualified by the stewards after causing interference to Peking Cruz (Simon Husbands) in deep stretch, which resulted in the race being awarded to Campesino to complete a treble for jockey Omar Walker.

Nuclear Flight was well in control of the race from the start but coming across the dummy rails, Dawkins pulled his whip with his right hand and the filly swerved violently to the left slamming into Peking Cruz almost hitting him off his legs.

Nuclear Flight eventually won the race with Campesino closing fast to edge out Peking Cruz for second place. The final time was 58.3 seconds.

The official explanation from the stewards was that Nuclear Flight was disqualified for causing interference and intimidation to Peking Cruz at the two-furlong (400m) marker.

With the result, Campesino who was registering his first win in seven months, handed Walker with a three-timer on the card.

Walker had earlier won aboard Drummer Boy in the first race and Unbreakable in the eighth race.

The Millard Ziadie Memorial Cup feature was won in a bold front-running style by 26-1 long shot Mr Lyndhurst.

Ridden by Orlando Foster, the Norman Smith-trained Mr Lyndhurst won by 1 1/2 lengths over K imberly Gold and Diferentgeneration. The final time for the 5 1/2-furlong event was 1:09.0 minutes.
