Reebok commits US$50K to Kemoy Campbell’s medical bill
KINGSTON, Jamaica — President of Reebok, Matt O’Toole says the sportswear company will be donating USD$50,000 to assist with the medical expenses for professional distance runner Kemoy Campbell.
Campbell was functioning as a pacesetter in the 3000m at the Millrose Games in New York when he collapsed on Saturday.
He has been hospitalised since the incident.
In a statement to Sports Illustrated today, O’Toole said “Kemoy is an important part of the Reebok family, and we are so happy to hear that he is making great progress,” O’Toole said.
“As part of our family, we will stand behind him and support him in his recovery. We are making a contribution of $50,000 to help with his medical expenses.”
The donation from Reebok precedes an announcement by Minister of Culture, Gender, Entertainment and Sport, Olivia Grange, to assist with his expenses as well.
A GoFundMe campaign seeking to raise US$200,000 to assist with Campbell’s medical expenses has also been launched since his hospitalisation.
