Cham rocks Footloose
It was a large crowd, comprising mostly females, that descended on Mas Camp, Stadium North, for the Footloose retro party last Saturday.
Dubbed the Live edition, patrons enjoyed a marathon performance from Cham (formerly Baby Cham), who took them down memory lane to relive a string of hits which have made him a household name locally and internationally.
“This has been my best performance so far for 2019. It was on fire,” Cham told the Jamaica Observer shortly after his performance.
He continued: “You find that it’s been a long time since Jamaica has gotten like an intimate concert from Cham, where I went deep into the catalogue while touching on newer songs.”
Songs, including Babylon Bwoy, Ghetto Story, Heading to the Top, Gal from Yuh Born, Many Many, Joyride, Wah Dat Fah, Tun Up, and his latest release Make Up Sex, kept patrons on a musical high.
Cham explained why music from the 1990s was still a hit among patrons.
“The 90s was the holy grail of dancehall music. It is just something about the 90s and what those producers brought to the music. The music was more structured; they had more consistency in the production,” he said.
Aside from Cham’s performance, there were cameo appearances from the likes of new sensation Koffee and dancehall artiste Shizzle Sherlock.
DJ Arif Cooper and the Fresh team, comprising Scientist and DJ Al Pacino, provided the musical selections.
Promoter Tyrone Dixon of Broadway Productions was pleased with the night’s proceedings.
“Thanks to all the patrons who came out, and a big thank you to our sponsors and supporters. Stay tuned for the next Footloose,” said Dixon.
