The killing of the defenceless
Dear Editor,
As I see it, the lives of the most innocent and vulnerable among us are in serious danger. The chilling motion put forth by Member of Parliament Juliet Cuthbert has a glaring similarity to the Abortion Bill passed by the New York legislature last week. Both seem to be in gruesome agreement that unborn babies, if the conditions are right, can be killed in-utero moments before birth. Why?
At the very base of the push for abortion are three illogical thoughts. Firstly, that intrauterine life can be ignored. Secondly, that abortion is a human right. And thirdly, that legal abortions are safe and essential to female health care.
Rightly compared to whites who didn’t consider black people, and Nazis that didn’t consider Jews to be people, persons that advocate for abortion select arbitrary points when we should consider the foetus alive. Most settle on the point of viability.
Interestingly, like New York’s Abortion Bill, Cuthbert’s motion offers no protection even to viable babies. This is so uniquely evil it should be embarrassing. But, instead, pro-abortion parliamentarians are grinning and full of pride at the shedding of innocent blood which at another time could have been their own.
Whether via dismemberment and the crushing of skulls, or sucking a small baby through a thick tube, or saline injections, or a pill to stop a beating foetal heart, an abortion interrupts the developmental process of a genetically unique human being that would have otherwise ended in natural death. This cannot be ignored. This is murder! He or she is alive and life must be respected.
Persons have also been repeating again and again that abortion is a human right. It certainly isn’t listed in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights; the right to life, however, is clearly stated. But more than citing a well-intended document, killing a defenceless human being cannot be a human right. It just doesn’t make sense.
Regarding women’s health, we could consider the mountain of research that shows significant mental and physical health risks to women who abort. But simply put, a procedure that kills unborn women cannot be healthy for women.
I am yet to hear a logical, scientifically sound, pro-abortion position. Indeed, no logical reason for killing the defenceless exists.
