Two teens killed
Two teenagers were brutally killed in Kingston last week.
Jevonie Campbell, 16, otherwise called ‘Red Rat’, of Majesty Gardens, Kingston 11, was shot and killed on Christmas Eve in his community while 15-year-old Maleek Brown of Blackwood Terrace, Kingston 19, was stabbed to death along Constant Spring Road in Kingston on Boxing Day.
According to the constabulary’s Corporate Communication Unit, in the first incident the police were summoned by residents who heard explosions around 12:15 pm.
When the police arrived, Campbell was found suffering from gunshot wounds to the head. He was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead whilst being treated.
Three days later, Brown was among a group of boys talking around 11:45 pm when an argument developed between them.
After the commotion he was found suffering from stab wounds. He was taken to hospital where he died whilst undergoing treatment.
Both killings are being investigated.
More than 50 children have been killed since the start of the year.
According to the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) and dubbed, ‘A Familiar Face: Violence in the Lives of Children and Adolescents’ that was launched in October, the lives of 47 children were snuffed out.
