George Nooks gives back
George Nooks recently hosted a Christmas treat for the residents of the Golden Age Home in Vineyard Town, Kingston.
The singer, with the assistance of operations manager Delfreda Cammock-Thorpe, feted and fed the residents of clusters C and D, and in the evening, he delivered a spirited, gospel-based performance for the more than appreciative seniors.
Nooks performed songs such as Bridge Over Troubled Waters, God Will Take Care of You, and God Is Standing By.
During the performance, a male and female resident clutched each other and began dancing; prompting supervisor Morelene Moncrieffe to say: “It’s not that kind of song”.
Nooks closed the gospel segment with Ride Out The Storm as the seniors sang along heartily.
The nurses were not to be left out. Shanique Miller and Christalie Anderson got up and swayed to the gospel songs, while Karon Hanson and Marsha Minto sang along to Nooks’ vocal stylings.
Nooks took a break and returned with reggae favourites such as John Holt’s Left with a Broken Heart and Stick By Me, Dennis Brown’s Should I, before closing with his classic, Tribal War.
Nooks made a donation to the Golden Age Home of four steel doors and six windows to replace worn-out fixtures at the institution.
Earlier this year, Nooks also feted and serenaded the females in cluster C during a Mother’s Day event at the home.
“I just like giving back to the senior citizens on whose backs this great country was built. I am just playing my part to make their Christmas a joyous and special occasion,” Nooks added.
