SO Gardening — Festive blooms
Poinsettias are the associated festive flowers but do consider a few other options this Christmas.
Amaryllises
Here’s the plus — Amaryllises are stand-alone stunning, so there’s no need for accent flowers to pull them together. Think fire engine-red or play with textures and hues.
Hydrangeas
Hydrangeas are glorious and in full bloom at this time of year. Take inspiration from the gardens up at Greenwich, Irish Town. Add a touch of whimsy to your festive styling with light pink or purple blooms.
Red Roses
Red roses are perfect any time of year but will definitely last longer between now and early February.
Ilax Berries
Yes, we know that it’s all about holly at Christmas but consider first cousins the Ilax berries with up to 100 berries per branch. Place in a tall, elegant vase and allow them to do their own thing.
Lilies
Picture lilies in a cacaphony of colour. Yes! Your face just creased in a smile like ours.
Tulips
SO is left speechless by these blush pinks!
