No love for Spice?
Reports are swirling on social media that Jamaican deejay Spice will not be returning for the new season of the hit reality television series Love & Hip Hop Atlanta .
Spice, whose given name is Grace Hamilton, went viral last week when she released a photograph of herself on her Instagram page with much lighter skin in support of her single Black Hypocrisy — from her new mixtape Captured which drops today. The photograph led to speculation and discussion as to whether the lighter skin was part of a publicity campaign or if the deejay had in fact bleached her skin.
Then, yesterday, came speculations on social media that she would not be returning to the TV series when it’s eighth season premières.
There has been no word from Spice on this matter. The Jamaica Observer tried to contact her management team for a comment but got no response.
In March of this year Spice joined season seven of the series which airs on VH1. She immediately got tongues wagging the moment she stepped on the set when she declared: “I’ve outgrown my country.” This was in relation to questions as to why an established act would appear on a series dedicated to exposing emerging talent.
In Love & Hip Hop Atlanta tradition, Spice had a number of on-screen spats with cast mates, which only added to the drama the series has become known for since it first aired in June 2012. Spice has publicly stated that she is using Love & Hip Hop Atlanta as a means of reaching a wider market with her music.
