Yohan Blake, through his foundation YB AFRAID and in collaboration with his sportswear sponsor Adidas, has provided training and match gear for top Jamaican tennis player Michaela Stephens.

The 15-year-old Stephens has been a long-standing tennis champion at all age groups in Jamaica and hails from May Pen, Clarendon.

“Every champion needs the right equipment and gear to perform at a top level. Michaela has been outstanding throughout her junior career and has represented Jamaica all over the world, and recently won the All-Jamaican Junior Tennis Championships in the summer of 2018,” said Aswad Morgan, president of Tennis Jamaica.

According to Morgan, “This donation will go a long way in helping Michaela maintain her aggressive training programme and perform well during competition.”

“I am always willing to help in whatever way I can to foster talent. Michaela is obviously very talented and has that focus, drive and discipline that deserves the assistance that will give her every chance of success. I am therefore privileged and proud through my foundation, YB AFRAID and Adidas, the greatest makers of sporting apparel and shoes, to give to her this training gear. We look forward to her continued development and I will continue to support her however I can,” said Blake.

Tennis Jamaica has designed an intense two-year programme for Michaela, which covers both her academic and tennis training development. She is currently being trained by former Davis Cup captain Errol Campbell at Tennis Jamaica’s headquarters, The Eric Bell Tennis Centre.
