Second-round places booked by North & East d’Cup teams
St Mary Technical, Titchfield High and Seaforth High all booked their spots in the second round of the ISSA/Wata daCosta Cup football competition, following the end of first round matches on Saturday last.
Six schools from the north central region will be among the 32 teams that will participate in the home and away knockout format for spots in the quarter-finals. St Mary High, Port Antonio High and Paul Bogle High had earlier won their respective zones.
St Mary Technical have now made it three consecutive times to the second round, after beating Guys Hill 5-1 and improving to 20 points, two points behind St Mary High whose game against Brimmervale was blown off prematurely due to crowd problems. Brimmervale High and St Mary Technical were on 17 points going into the game.
Titchfield High’s 2-2 draw against Fair Prospect was enough to give them second place in Zone L as they finished on 17 points, nine behind Port Antonio High but two better than Fair Prospect.
Seaforth High edged Zone O winners Paul Bogle High 1-0 to join them in the next round.
It was the first loss for Paul Bogle High who won Zone O with 23 points, three better than Seaforth High.
