ONLINE READER’S COMMENT: Young women, don’t let cell phones put your lives in danger
Dear Editor,
How many of us are abiding by these principles, or putting them in practice: “Prevention is better than cure.” And: “Be as wise as a serpent and as harmless as a dove.”
I have seen many young women and young girls, with some of the most expensive cellular phones in the public, and on public passenger transport. I have also seen many of them with cellular phones that are not so expensive, tucked into their pants back-pocket, walking around with them, which can be easily picked by thieves.
I am sternly giving our women this piece of advice: Unless it’s very necessary, avoid carrying or using your expensive phones in the public or on public passenger transport. And don’t hold your phone carelessly in your hand. Make sure you are not showing-off your pretty phone, for people to see.
Criminals will attack you and take your life because of your cellphone. And many have been attacked already.
Robbers and thieves tend to prey on women to rob them of their belongings more than they prey on men. In some cases, dog-hearted killers find it easier in targeting women for what they have than the men.
Don’t you know that there are always some peeping Toms and trouble-makers lurking around, ready to strike, if and when they get the go-ahead to do so? So, don’t leave bait for a fish or a rat to charge in on.
So, the ball is in your court. Put on your thinking caps and try to stay on the safe side.
Yours truly,
Donald J Mckoy
