Miss Formality finally on the move
Miss Formality , a promising chestnut filly running for the fifth time, posted her second-consecutive win in a manner suggesting that she is finally ready to show her true qualities. Miss Formality won a three-year-old and upward claiming call for $1,000,000 down to $850,000 and native-bred three-year-olds and upward (NW4) on Saturday.
Under Omar Walker, Miss Formality got home by 5 ¼ lengths as a 2-1 betting option in the six-and-a-half furlong (1,300m) event.
Miss Formality covered that distance in a time of 1:20.0 following the late scratch of Dancing Queen at the gates, for a purse of $900,000.
“ Miss Formality has always promised much but she had an injury in the early part of the year. Now she looks to be coming on at the right time and the hope is that she will catch some of the easier races at the end of the year.
“With this victory she is in Restricted Stakes now and with many of the good ones having left like Peking Cruz and Another Vigorous, I think that she has a good chance of winning at this level,” champion trainer Wayne DaCosta said.
Miss Formality got a good break before turning on the pressure in deep stretch.
Miss Formality assumed control of the race at the top of the lane and with Walker in a no-nonsense mood, the pair sprinted away in the end.
The 9/1 chance and top weighted Urban Principal ridden by Shane Ellis came running on to grab second money from Phineas at odds of 3/1.
