Barrington Whyte, the husband of slain District Constable Melissa Edwards-Whyte, was on Sunday charged with murder.
3. Gov’t to sign off on concession for NMIA tomorrow
The Government will tomorrow sign off on the concession agreement with Mexican company Grupo Aeroportuario del Pacifico SAB De CV (GAP) which was last month selected as the provisional preferred bidder for the Norman Manley International Airport (NMIA) public/ private partnership.

Assistant Commissioner of the Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM), Hamish Campbell, today testified that Constable Collis “Chucky” Brown, who is being tried in the Home Circuit Court on three counts of murder, had confessed to being involved part of a police team that was killing people.
5. Detective on corruption charges granted bail
Detective Constable Oneil Barrett, 36, was today offered bail when he appeared in the St Catherine Parish Court on charges of perverting the course of justice and attempting to solicit money in breach of the Corruption Prevention Act.

The National Commercial Bank (NCB), through its mobile money solution Quisk, is collaborating with OnTime Taxi service to offer customers the option of digitally paying fares.

Private electricity generating company Jamaica Energy Partners (JEP), in collaboration with its international energy partner Wartsila, has announced the launch of Jamaica’s first SeaBin, an ocean garbage collector, which will be established at the Montego Bay Marine Park in St James.

Minister of Culture, Gender, Entertainment and Sport, Olivia Grange, has announced that the statue of Jamaican Olympian Shelly Ann Fraser Pryce will be unveiled on Sunday, October 14.

F.ifteen-year-old Samantha Pryce crossed the finish line in 20 minutes and 9 seconds to become one of the youngest winners of the Digicel 5K Run for Special Needs on Saturday night in downtown Kingston.
