Fair Prospect clip Titchfield 2-1
Fair Prospect , Portland — Fair Prospect came from behind to clip Titchfield 2-1 at Fair Prospect on Saturday, during their Zone L ISSA/Wata daCosta Cup game.
Titchfield’s Raheem Bryan gave his team the lead on the stroke of half-time, but Adrian Buckley in the 74th and 93rd minutes turned the fortunes of his Fair Prospect team.
Titchfield started out attacking through Rushaun McLean, Derrick Banny, Raheem Bryan and Alexei Sterling, but Shane Smith and Tajhme Witter kept them at bay.
Fair Prospect countered through Javaan Ingleton, Dantae Wallace, Dimetri Powell and Fitzroy Allen, but their attack was broken down by Marlon Richards and Akel Grossett.
There were some keen battles in midfield, and both teams earned a number of corners but failed to convert any.
On the stroke of half-time Titchfield took the lead when Bryan’s free kick some 35 metres out on the right flank — went low across the wall of defenders and into the goal, leaving custodian Lenroy Lewis stranded.
The second half started with Fair Prospect bullying their way back into the game and earning a few free kicks. This paid off with Shane Smith’s long pass down the right to substitute Buckley, who headed the ball past Titchfield’s custodian Maximus Davis to his near post to level the score.
As the game moved into added time Buckley got his brace and Fair Prospect’s winner when he picked up a ball just inside the penalty area, moved forward, and picked his spot before firing past Davis.
In other results, Port Antonio clipped Annotto Bay 1-0, as did Happy Grove in their match against Horace Clarke.
