Police introduce tip line to tackle traffic congestion
KINGSTON, Jamaica — The Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) has introduced a tip line for its newly formed Public Safety and Traffic Enforcement Branch (PSTEB) and is encouraging the public to share information on areas experiencing traffic congestion.
Interested individuals can either call or send a text message to the traffic officers at 876-591-5671 or contact them via WhatsApp.
The JCF, in a social media post earlier today, indicated that the move was a response to requests to have PSTEB officers in certain areas.
The PSTEB was launched ahead of the 2018/19 academic year with the strategic objective of improving public safety, reducing response time to demands for police service, reducing crime and disorder and improving public trust and confidence in the police.
It is a merger of the JCF’s Motorised Patrol and the Traffic and Highway divisions aimed at improving social order and safe public spaces; improving compliance to the Road Traffic Act; and reducing crime in public spaces.
