Super Star YC meet Esher FC in Hanover FA semis
LUCEA, Hanover — Super Star YC and Esher FC will meet in the first semi-final of the Hanover Football Association Island Lux Beach Park/Negril and MP Ian Hayles Western Hanover/CDF Hanover FA Knock-Out Competition at Watson Taylor Park in Lucea today at 3:00 pm.
The semi-final matches were set last weekend following the second-round games and will also see Johnson Town FC meeting Super League outfit Hopewell United tomorrow afternoon at the same venue.
Super Stars YC, the league’s mid-season champions, thrashed Rock Spring Rockers 5-0 in their game, while Esher FC cruised past Middlesex United 4-0.
Hopewell United were taken to penalty kicks by Sandy Bay FC in their quarter-final game.
Shaquille Brown and Linton Galloway both scored braces for Super Star YC in their win where they led 3-0 at half-time.
Brown got on the scoresheet in the third and 14th minutes to give his team an early advantage before Dravian Preston added a third in the 34th minute.
Galloway bagged his brace in a four-minute span in the second half, he made it 4-0 in the 60th minute and then added another in the 63rd minute as his team ran out easy winners.
Sheldon Sears and Lexon Samuels also got braces, for Esher FC in their blanking of Middlesex United.
Sears got Esher FC off to a fast start when he scored in third minute, while Samuels doubled the scores just before half time, in the 42nd minute.
Samuels got his second goal just two minutes into the second half as Esher raced to a 3-0 lead before Sears got his second goal in the 77th minute.
Hopewell United, who had a good season in the Western Confederation Super League, just missing a spot in the semi-finals, came from behind to lead Sandy Bay FC with two early goals from Hietolah Gardener, but gave up a late goal and were forced to go to extra time and penalty kicks where they won 4-3.
Anthony Lair gave Sandy Bay FC the lead in the 14th minute, but Gardener pulled Hopewell United level in the 19th minute then handed them the lead in the 27th minute.
Hopewell United held the lead until the 70th minute when Shamar Brooks pulled Sandy Bay level.
