St James men fined $500k, imprisoned for cocaine possession
ST JAMES, Jamaica — A case involving two St James men who were charged with multiple breaches of the Dangerous Drugs Act in 2013 after they were reportedly found with approximately $254-million worth of cocaine came to an end in the St James Parish Court yesterday, the police have reported.
The men, 53-year-old Owen Glaze, a security supervisor of Anchovy in the parish and 39-year-old Andrew Brown, an auto mechanic of Lilliput, also in St James, were found guilty of the offences of possession of cocaine, dealing in cocaine and trafficking cocaine.
The police said Glaze and Brown were arrested during an operation on Mount Carey main road in St James on Saturday, April 20, 2013 in which cocaine weighing approximately 66 kilograms was seized.
On the charges of dealing in cocaine and trafficking cocaine, both men were admonished and discharged by the court.
They were however fined $500,000 or three months imprisonment on the charge of possession of cocaine and ordered to serve three years and three years, nine months in prison, respectively.
