Wigton’s gift to Rose Hill Primary
MANDEVILLE, Manchester — Wigton Windfarm Limited at Rose Hill in southern Manchester recently completed a $10-million renovation project at the neighbouring Rose Hill Primary and Infant School.
A news release said the project involved reconfiguration of the school building’s interior in line with recommendations from the Ministry of Education; installation of new doors, bathroom fixtures and kitchen cupboards; as well as interior and exterior painting. Additionally, “a new walkway and parking areas were created and gutters were straightened out”, the release said.
Wigton has been supporting the school since 2004, formerly adopting the institution in 2009. The release noted that between 2004 and 2017, Wigton erected new fencing, constructed a new toilet facility, carried out electrical and lighting improvements, repaired water tanks, installed metal grilles and provided internet service. Water, exercise books, paint and canteen equipment were also donated to the school.
General manager of Wigton Windfarm Limited, Earl Barrett, told a rededication ceremony at the school that the company believed the assistance projects will “positively impact productivity” there.
Principal of Rose Hill Primary Joylyn Logan hailed Wigton for contributing “immensely” to “our school environment”.
