Two Old Harbour men found with $35m, charged
ST CATHERINE, Jamaica — The police have formally charged two men who were arrested last Thursday during operations in Old Harbour, St Catherine where over $35 million and several high-end motor vehicles were seized.
Charged are 33-year-old engineer Lawrence Pommells, and 32-year-old mechanic Ricardo Harris, both of Old Harbour addresses.
The men who are scheduled to appear in the St Catherine Parish Court tomorrow have been charged with money laundering (possession of criminal property) and breaches of the Corruption Prevention Act (bribery).
Reports are that on the morning of June 7, investigators from the Constabulary Financial Unit of C-TOC and the Financial Investigation Unit (FID) carried out an operation in New Harbour Village.
During the operation, two premises were searched and over $35 million, four high-end vehicles, along with other valuables were reportedly seized.
