PNP mourns with people of Cuba
THE Opposition People’s National Party (PNP) said yesterday that it is deeply saddened by news of the crash at the José Martí International Airport of a Cuban airliner with more than 100 passengers and crew on board.
The party in a statement said that from all reports, the flight was heading to the Province of Holguin when it crashed in the fields near the airport.
“At the time of the report, it was not certain how many survived the ill-fated airline. However, we would like to express our deepest sympathies to the Government and people of Cuba in this time of grief and sadness.”
Noting that the neighbouring country has over the decades been a fine example of strength and resilience, the PNP said it regrets this very sad development in that nation’s aviation history.
“The party commiserates with the overnment and people of Cuba and offers condolences to all affected,” the statement ended
