Flooding in Lucea as river swells banks
HANOVER, Jamaica — Hundreds of motorist and pedestrians were yesterday left stranded for hours in Hanover’s capital town Lucea due to flooding.
The flooding started after 6:00pm as a result of the Riley River (Lucea West River) overflowing its banks due to heavy rainfall which pelted a section of the parish from shortly before two in the afternoon.
The Brissett community was also impacted by the flooding.
Persons heading to and from work, students heading home from school and tourists were among those left stranded.
The parish has been experiencing almost daily rainfall for the past two weeks.
