1. Capleton offered $250,000 bail
Popular entertainer Capleton, whose given name is Clifton Bailey, was today offered bail in the sum of $250,000 when he appeared in the Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court on a rape charge.
2. PNP ‘sickened’ by discovery of babies’ bodies from KPH among stray dogs
The Opposition People’s National Party (PNP) says it is “sickened” by the “gruesome” incident in which it says the bodies of two newborn babies, or neonates, went missing from the Kingston Public Hospital and were later found among stray dogs in downtown Kingston.
3. ECJ disingenuous in its statement, says Fisher
ormer director of elections Orette Fisher has accused the Electoral Commission of Jamaica (ECJ) of being “disingenuous” in a section of its statement issued yesterday which stated that the commission was not aware of any incidents or allegations of political interference into the operations of the Electoral Office of Jamaica (EOJ).
4. Cops urged to go after child abusers and sex offenders
Members of the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF), who have been trained as Sexual Offences and Child Abuse Investigators have been charged to go after perpetrators of these crimes.
5. Arnett Gardens defeated 5-6 as Pantoja wins C’bean championship
Jamaica’s Arnett Gardens had to settle for second spot after going down 5-6 on penalties to Athletic Club Pantoja of the Dominican Republic in the final of the FLOW CONCACAF Caribbean Club Championship at the Anthony Spaulding Sports Complex.
6. Physiotherapy treatment now available at Linstead Hospital
Patients of the Linstead Hospital in St Catherine requiring physiotherapy treatment no longer need to travel to the Spanish Town Hospital to access the service.
7. PNP questions selection of new CDF head
The People’s National Party (PNP) has expressed concern about the selection of Kedesha Campbell, who previously filled the role of personal assistant to Prime Minister Andrew Holness, as the new head of the Constituency Development Fund Management Unit.
8. JUTC introduces shuttle service for August Town commuters
Effective today, the Jamaica Urban Transit Company (JUTC) will start a shuttle service in August Town for commuters affected by a breakaway along a section of the August Town main road in St Andrew.
9. Whitmore signs four-year contract with JFF
Jamaica’s Senior National Football team Head Coach Theodore “Tappa” Whitmore today signed a four-year contract with the Jamaica Football Federation ending a tiff between the parties.
