An effective ‘Bullet’
The Patrick Lynch-conditioned Another Bullet, benefiting from a peach of a ride from the in-form Robert Halledeen, resisted the top weight of 57.0 kgs (126 lbs) and just got up in the nick of time to win the top-rated $1.15 million Open Allowance event at Caymanas Park yesterday.
With five horses in the field of six spread across the racetrack in the final furlong (200m) of the heated sprint event, the vigorous Halledeen produced Another Bullet for a telling effort on the outside of rivals and the far-striding six-year-old bay horse got home by a length in the three-year-old and upward event.
Lottery Ticket (Gary Richards), who was outpaced early in the race, also came with a strong run in the final 50 metres to snatch second place – just three parts of the length in front of Zephyr (Dane Dawkins) and Armageddon (Omar Walker) in a tight grouping.
Owned by Tainiya Kerr, Another Bullet ( Nasheet – Wisely Noted) ran the distance of five furlongs (1,000m) on the round course in 1:00.2 backed with quarterly splits of 23.1 and 45.3.
“It was a very good performance, I mean, running the distance of five furlongs round like that, you have to feel good about that, and I am happy with that,” Lynch told the Jamaica Observer.
Elsewhere on the 11-race card, Sir Puddington ( Western Classic – Sharhar), trained by Richard Azan and ridden by Oneil Scott, obliged as the 9-5 favourite in the supporting $900,000 Restricted Allowance I’msatisfied Trophy over 10 furlongs (2,000m). The three-year-old bay colt won by a length and three-quarters ahead of Bad Boy Trump (Omar Walker) and Storm (Gary Richards) in finishing time of 2:11.0.
The $1 million Overnight Allowance Reynold “Ren” Gonzalves Memorial Cup went to Supertronics (Gary Richards), who romped home by five-and-a-half lengths over Sarah Lee (Aaron Chatrie) and Royal Vibes (Omar Walker). The final time for the 10-furlong (2,000m) three-year-olds and upward event was 2:09.3.
Racing continues next Saturday.
