Imaahki’s ode to mothers
LOVERS’ rock singer Imaahki is tipping his hat to all mothers with the release of the video for his single Me, Myself and I .
Directed by Tony Rush’s Cinitrax, it was shot on location in Linstead and Fort Clarence Beach, St Catherine, and Red Hills Road on Kingston.
“ Me, Myself and I can be described as a love song with a feel good flavour giving praise to women. My father (Alford Wilson) and I both wrote this song. He has a love for my mother that is unconditional and I want others to emulate the same. We are seeing too many issues of domestic violence so I wanted to sing a love song to shine light on what love really is,” Imaahki told Jamaica Observer.
The single Me, Myself and I was released a year ago on the family’s Imaahki Production. The singer feels its still quite relevant.
“It’s still fitting today. Love is a universal word, and it can never change from as long as people have love,” he said. “It has become the ideal wedding song for a lot of people and it has been buzzing on air as well, so I am excited about the direction it has taken.”
Imaahki (given name Nigel Wilson) hails from Linstead in St Catherine. He was one of the contestants in 2008 staging of Digicel Rising Stars and has never looked back since. He has performed on several stage shows, including St Mary Mi Come From (2016) and Linstead Ackee & Jerk Festival (2016 and 2017). He also received attention from corporate Jamaica performing on road shows for Courts Jamaica and Jamaica Public Service.
He is known for other singles including Far From Me and the socially conscious No Violence Against Women.
