Champs Campari humbled by Seprod in domino league
Defending champions Campari were humbled 112-129 by Seprod in the third round of the 2018 National Association of Domino Bodies (NADB) Kingston & St Andrew Region/Wray & Nephew White Overproof Rum Business House League last week.
Having opened the defence of their Division One title with a 124-105 win over Ministry of Finance (MOF) the previous round, Campari were no match for the 2013 champions Seprod in their first game at home this season.
It was the second consecutive win for Seprod as they had defeated Jamaica Urban Transit Company (JUTC) 120-96 in the second round to remain unbeaten in the league so far.
The other team with a perfect record in the top division is Kingston Wharves, who edged Petrojam 115-112 at home at King Port Building. Kingston Wharves, who lost last year’s final to Camapri in search of a fourth straight title, were winning for the third time in as many matches.
The Division two champion MOF were also beaten, going down 114-150 to Wray & Nephew Limited at 473 Spanish Town Road. It was the first win for the Wray & Nephew Limited team.
In other games, Urban Development Corporation (UDC) suffered their third consecutive defeat when they went down 101-110 to Jamaica Observer at 40-42 1/2 Beechwood Avenue in an intense battle where two red cards were issued.
JUTC got their road licence renewed at the expense of National Commercial Bank (NCB) with a 117-99 win at the Wellness & Recreation Centre at 9-15 Phoenix Avenue in Kingston.
In Division Two, Gleaner, Digicel, Sagicor Jamaica and Kris An Charles maintained their perfect start with easy victories.
Former four-time Division One champions Gleaner completely ripped the roof off National Housing Trust (NHT) with a 123-110 win at 7 North Street; Digicel’s signal is still going strong as they drubbed Port Authority of Jamaica (PAJ) 135-110 at Water Lane; Sagicor Jamaica got the better of Stewart’s Auto Parts 153-120 at 28-48 Barbados Avenue in Kingston; and Kris An Charles spanked Jamaica Customs Agency 140-112 at home at 2 Eureka Crescent in Kingston.
In the other match, Bank of Jamaica (BOJ), in a one-sided encounter, dismantled General Accident 141-105 at Nethersole Place.
Round four takes place today with a full slate of games in both divisions.
In Division One, UDC will have their hands full when they host Wray & Nephew Limited at 12 Ocean Boulevard; Jamaica Observer travel to 96 Marcus Garvey Drive to face Petrojam in what should be a tight battle; Kingston Wharves will entertain champions Campari at King Port Building; JUTC welcome MOF at their Half-Way-Tree home and Sepord should continue their winning ways as they take on NCB at Rockfort.
In the lower division, Gleaner should remain unbeaten as they travel to Nethersole to play BOJ; Sagicor Jamaica should also remain perfect as they take on General Accident at 58 Half-Way-Tree Road; Kris An Charles will have things easy at home against Stewart’s Auto Parts at 2 Eureka Crescent; NHT host PAJ and Digicel faces Jamaica Customs Agency at 15 Newport East in Kingston.
