Lane restriction to be effected along Greenvale to Spur Tree corridor for road works
MANCHESTER, Jamaica — The National Works Agency (NWA) is advising that come tomorrow morning, a section of the Greenvale to Spur Tree Main Road in Manchester will be reduced to single lane traffic in the vicinity of the Total Gas Station.
NWA said that the lane restriction, which starts at 9:00 am, is to facilitate rehabilitative road works on a section of the corridor.
Community relations officer at the NWA, Howard Hendriks, further explained that the work which is to be undertaken over a six week period will impact the eastbound and westbound lanes intermittently.
According to a statement from the NWA, some $21 million is being spent on the project under the ongoing $1.35 billion local rehabilitation and drainage improvement programme capital a programme.
It added that the improvements in the road surface, along what is a busy corridor, will allow for the freer movement of traffic and ease of access to major communities such as Junction, Alligator Pond, Santa Cruz, Goshen, Mandeville, Porus and Savanna la Mar.
Motorists are therefore being reminded to obey the instructions of the flagmen and traffic signs are posted along the corridor during the period of works.
