Woman pickpocket remanded for sentencing
A woman who cut out a woman’s bag in downtown Kingston and stole her two cellular phones will be sentenced on April 19.
Nicola Myers pleaded guilty to malicious destruction of property and simple larceny when she appeared in court on Thursday.
The court heard that the complainant was walking downtown with her friend when the friend observed Myers bumping into the complainant then stooping down to pick up two phones from off the ground.
The complainant and her friend then trailed Myers and saw her cutting other people’s bags and taking their phones.
The women then went for the police and Myers was arrested.
After Myers pleaded guilty, the liaison officer told the judge that she was convicted on a similar charge last year.
Parish Judge Vaughn Smith therefore requested Myers’ antecedent and remanded her for sentencing.
