Marbana was a hit!
IT was strictly good vibes and music at Marbana on Easter Sunday and patron Lyn-Marie Sealy knew about it all too well.
“This is my second time here and I am coming from Barbados. I had to return because it is exceptionally the best carnival experience in Jamaica,” Sealy told the Jamaica Observer mid-dance.
Marbana, which celebrated its fifth staging, took over the white sands of Frenchman’s Cove in Portland. Patrons were greeted by the Robert and Friends Band as they made their way to the scenic beach to party the day away.
Live drumming, a traditional feature of carnival, continued as DJs played hits from popular genres.
Trinidad’s DJ Lantern MD played soca favourites like Rupee’s Tempted to Touch, Destra’s I Dare You and Machel Montano’s One More Time. A party would be incomplete without dancing tracks, and Jazzy T from Renaissance delivered with songs like Genna Bounce by Ding Dong and Way Up by Chi Ching Ching. Miami Dream Team was sure to excite as they dropped current sensations like They Don’t Know by Masicka, Bake Bean by Govana and A Million by Shane O. And DJ Nicco kept the ladies moving with tracks like Party Animal by Charly Blacks and Vybz Kartel’s VIP.
Trinidad’s Patrick “The Hypeman” Anthony played host while patrons danced in the sand, soaked up the sun, and created memories with loved ones.
M7 Events, the organiser of Marbana, spared no effort in creating a perfect atmosphere of non-stop fun and relaxation for attendees.
“We have really developed a brand that people love — people want to come here every year,” Andrew Pryce, one of the directors of M7 Events told the Jamaica Observer.
“As a friend of mine said to me, ‘People don’t go to Marbana, they come out to go to Marbana’. The turn out is so good. I believe this is the carnival event of the carnival week. People enjoy it because it starts carnival week on a high note. And every Sunday of carnival week they come down to Port Antonio to enjoy good music, good food and good vibes,” he continued.
