Criminals clone police commissioner’s credit card
KINGSTON, Jamaica — The police have arrested and charged one suspect in a criminal network that cloned the credit card belonging to Police Commissioner, Major Anthony Anderson, stealing more than $1.3 million from his account over a one week period.
The police report that 44-year-old businessman Earl Hobins was charged by the Fraud Squad after $83,000 reportedly procured through the illicit use of Anderson’s credit card, was used to pay his son’s school fee at a prominent high school.
Hobins was brought before the St Andrew Parish Court last Thursday when his bail was extended. He is due to re-appear in court on May 1.
The crime was committed just before Anderson took up the post of police commissioner last month.
The police theorise that two people, including a woman, created two cloned cards, which have been used to purchase appliances, motor vehicle parts and personal items.
