Complainant needed to prosecute alleged anklet thief
THE Darling Street police are seeking the assistance of a woman who was robbed of her anklet in downtown Kingston, to prosecute Rammeike Campbell.
Campbell is charged with larceny from the person.
Police reported that Campbell was seen by a cop removing a gold anklet from the woman at the intersection of Beckford Street and Luke Lane on February 8.
On Wednesday, when the matter was called up in the Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court, the arresting officer told the court that Campbell handed over the anklet to him when he was accosted.
However, the woman did not make a report.
Campbell’s attorney, who was interested in making a bail application, denied the allegations against her client.
The attorney insisted that there was no complainant in the matter.
Parish Judge Chester Crooks told the attorney that he was not interested in offering bail.
Crooks, while commending the cop, advised him to find the complainant.
Prior to setting a March 29 mention date, Crooks requested Campbell’s criminal record and antecedent.
