Toyota conquers Holly Mount
TOYOTA Jamaica 4×4 Club’s first excursion for the year was a fun-filled blast for all parties involved. The trip, last Sunday, was to the cool hills of Holly Mount in the garden parish of St Ann.
“I think we accomplished what we wanted with the event. It’s not just about selling the vehicles we want to be involved with customers as to ultimately serve them better,” Howard Foster, sales and marketing manager of Toyota Jamaica, told the Jamaica Observer’s weekly Auto magazine.
The event saw 70 people turning out with 30 Toyota vehicles. The group met at the popular eating spot Faith’s Pen; from there they were advised of the final destination: the storied Holly Mount Great House, nestled in the nearby hills. The convoy of 4×4 Toyotas of various ages made their way up the challenging six kilometre, narrow route which featured rocks, mud, and tight turns.
“It all went well, as it was a good drive with enough challenge. The feedback from the patrons was great,” Foster explained.
At the stop, the Great House made the perfect venue for all to break out their picnic provisions and explore the new 2018 Toyota Hilux and Prado on show.
Tom Conner, managing director at Toyota Jamaica Limited, was incidentally celebrating his 52nd birthday.
“This is lovely way to celebrate my birthday. The club has been heading in the right direction as it’s a great way for them to see parts of Jamaica they wouldn’t normally see,” he said.
Foster is already focused on topping the opening event and is looking towards the next one in three months’ time.
“We want owners to experience what their 4×4 Toyota is capable of,” Foster added.
