Vows: #happilyeverFolkes
A love story 12 years in the making got its picture-perfect ending as Keisha Demetrius, banker at National Commerical Bank May Pen, and Dain Folkes, her co-worker at the Old Harbour branch, wed on Sunday, December 17, 2017 at Lover’s Leap, St Elizabeth. Vows charts the course of their love.
Simple beginnings
Dain and I met when we both started working at National Commercial Bank. We both realised that we had similar interests and would often end up at similar social events. We developed a beautiful friendship, which eventually blossomed into a relationship spanning over 12 years.
The proposal…
… came on January 6, 2016 at our favourite place, Lover’s Leap, St Elizabeth. We were out together when I asked Dain to take a picture, as was the norm. He, however, asked an employee to take us both kissing. Immediately after that he said, “Next time we kiss at this location it will be when they pronounce us husband and wife. How about we make this official in December?” Of course, the rest is history.
Here comes the bride
With Major’s This Is Why I Love You playing in the background, the bridesmaids made their way up the aisle of the manicured lawns at Lover’s Leap in St Elizabeth. They were stunning in dresses from Sandi’s Collection and were escorted by the handsome groomsmen who had donned black two-piece tuxedos from Robb Anthony Designs complemented by ties from Rochen Designs. The bridegroom waited for his bride at the altar, debonair in a black and white Robb Anthony Designs two-piece suit. Then the moment all had been waiting for finally arrived. The bride, escorted by her father Earl Demetrius, made her entrance to the strains of Christina Perri’s A Thousand Years. Keisha was gorgeous in a white sweetheart-neckline gown from Sweetest Weddings Jamaica. The ceremony was officiated by Pastor Anthony Dowding and included a sand ceremony to symbolise the joining of the couple’s families.
The reception
The ceremony over, guests and wedding party headed over to the main hall , to really get the celebration started. The team from Superior Events and Concepts Limited took the wedding’s yellow, white and black colour scheme and created an elegant atmosphere. The area also featured a 59-inch screen provided by Wow Entertained, which showcased vintage pictures of the bride and groom. The wedding party entered to Chronixx’s Likes, after which Keisha and Dain danced their way in to Joseph Stepper’s Wife. Master of ceremonies Everald Harriott invited guests to be seated as the newly-weds took to the floor for their first dance as husband and wife to Ed Sheeran’s Perfect featuring Beyoncé, and Lionel Richie’s We Call It Love. Keisha then serenaded her husband to Miley Cyrus’s When I Look At You.
Formalities continued with the cutting of the three-tiered fruitcake by Heavenly Delight in Mandeville and a scrumptious three-course meal catered by Yvette Bryan. The newly-weds and their guests then danced until the wee hours of the morning to reggae/lovers’ rock.
