SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico (CMC) — Puerto Rican based carrier, Seaborne Airlines, has announced the implementation of a cashless system, that came into effect on December 1.

In a release on the airline advised passengers to “plan accordingly when purchasing a ticket or baggage fee payment”.

“Visa, MasterCard, Discover, ATH, and company cheques are alternative ways to pay… this operational change should speed up your check-in times.”

The airline said kiosks that convert cash to a debit card are available at the Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport in San Juan.

The airline said it is also working to install similar kiosks at seaplane bases in the US Virgin Islands.

It said the debit cards can be used anywhere debit or credit cards are accepted; not just at the airport.

Seaborne, in the meantime, said it will be implementing ‘further improvements’ to its services.

“The reservations team is working on a new procedure that will allow them to take credit card payments to pre-pay for baggage. This will ease issues with customers and bags,” Seaborne explained.

Seaborne flies to several countries in the region including the British Virgin Islands, Antigua and Barbuda, St Maarten, Dominica, St Kitts & Nevis, Anguilla, the Dominican Republic.
