TPDCO stages 2nd Ocho Rios craft fair
KINGSTON, Jamaica — The craft department at the Tourism Product Development Company (TPDCo) will stage its second annual craft fair on Friday November 24, at the Turtle River Park in Ocho Rios.
The all-day event which will commence at 9:00am until 6:00pm is a move by TPDCo’s craft team to give craft producers and traders recognition and support.
This will be done by showcasing local producers’ authentic handcrafted pieces as well as the work of trainees from a recent craft training activity in tie-dye and hardanger – a form of embroidery traditionally worked with white thread on white even weave linen or cloth, using counted thread and drawn thread work techniques, TPDCo said.
The initiative is in support of the notion that visitors come to Jamaica in search of unique handmade pieces that are reflective of our bold culture.
It is envisioned that the fair will present networking opportunities for the 30 craft producers and vendors who are expected to participate in the activity. For the day, the craft producers will have the option to take their items to a large and open space that allows for greater interactions with both local and international buyers.
