Dwight Ricketts is new JIE president
Dwight Ricketts is the new president of the Jamaica Institution of Engineers (JIE).
A council member since 2010, Ricketts takes office with over 25 years’ experience in the field of engineering. He holds a bachelor’s degree in agricultural engineering from The University of the West Indies, St Augustine, and a Master of Engineering in Water Resources Engineering from the University of Guelph, Canada.
Ricketts has held senior positions in a number of private and public sector entities including St Mary Banana Estate and the Ministry of Industry, Commerce, Agriculture & Fisheries. He is currently a senior manager, field operations at the Jamaica Social Investment Fund, where he oversees the entity’s procurement activities and technical standards.
His involvement in community service includes the justice system and building capacity of the Scout Association of Jamaica — where he is the present chairman of the St Andrew Local Association and a member of the National Executive Committee.
Ricketts will be supported in his role as JIE president by 2017/18 council members: President-elect Christopher Hamilton, Immediate Past President Dave Barnaby; vice-presidents Godfrey Boyd, Stanley Sutherland, and Natalie Sparkes; Honorary Secretary Melissa Townsend; Honorary Treasurer Steve Johnson; Division Chair Nickoe Boothe-Thompson; Civil Division Chair Marvin Campbell; Electrical Division Chair Balvin Thorpe; Mechanical Division Chair Michael Heron; ordinary members include Glaister Ricketts, Major Taraja Jackson, Dr Carlton Hay, Duran Wright; and graduate members Timothy Bailey and Tara-Sue Rhoden.
