Harmony, Coopers Pen for Trelawny KO title
DAVIS PEN, Trelawny — The first title in the Trelawny Football Association’s 2017-18 season will be decided today, weather permitting, when Harmony FC and Coopers Pen FC meet in the rescheduled final of the President’s Cup Knock-out at Davis Pen, set to start at 3:00 pm.
The game, which is the second successive final between the two teams, was originally set for last Sunday but was postponed due to poor weather that affected most of the island.
The teams qualified for the final after winning their semi-finals two Sundays ago and will be meeting for the first time since Harmony FC beat Coopers Pen 1-0 in the final of the Trelawny FA Major League at Elleston Wakeland Centre in Falmouth in July.
Harmony FC, who return to the Western Confederation Super League that is set to start early December, came from a goal down at half-time to beat Salt Marsh United 2-1 in their semi-final at Bounty Hall, while Coopers Pen edged Duanvale FC 1-0 at home to set up the repeat clash.
Ramone Brown gave Salt Marsh United the lead in the 22nd minute and Harmony FC had to wait until the 53rd minute to draw level through Omar Williams.
Shaunavan McKenzie scored the winner for Harmony FC in the 79th minute.
At Coopers Pen, Sean Matheson’s 29th-minute goal gave the home team the win.
