By-election2017: Over 50% voter turnout in St Mary South Eastern
KINGSTON, Jamaica — The Electoral Office of Jamaica is reporting that as at 3:00pm, the constituency of St Mary South Eastern has seen the most voters coming out in today’s by-election with 52.3 per cent of those eligible marking their X.
A mere 21.7 per cent went out in the constituency of St Andrew South Western and 25.5 per cent went out in St Andrew Southern.
The St Mary South Eastern seat, being contested by the JLP’s Dr Norman Dunn and the PNP’s Dr Shane Alexis, has been given key focus since the announcements of the two parties’ candidates.
Alexis and Dunn are seeking to replace former MP, the late Dr Winston Green who died suddenly; while the PNP’s Mark Golding and Dr Angela Brown Burke are vying against the JLP’s Dane Dennis and Victor Hyde to represent St Andrew Southern and St Andrew South Western respectively.
Voting closes at 5:00 pm.
