By-election 2017: Holness visits Richmond division in St Mary
ST MARY, Jamaica — The Richmond division in South East St Mary was most eventful this afternoon as Prime Minister Andrew Holness accompanied Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) candidate Norman Dunn on a visit to polling stations.
“We’re very confident of votes in Castleton and Richmond, we’ve seen that Belfield is performing beyond expectations,” Dunn commented during the visit.
“It’s a Dunn deal” the candidate responded when asked of his anticipated outcome of the by-election.
Meanwhile, at one polling station at the Richmond United Church supervisor John Mathis said voting has been going “quiet and smooth so far”.
He said up to 11:00 am 170 people had come out to vote at the station.
Voters today will determine whether People’s National Party’s (PNP) Shane Alexis or the JLP’s Dunn will serve them as a Member of Parliament.
In the 2016 General Election Dunn lost the seat to the PNP’s Dr Winston Green by a mere five votes.
